Roost HQ is a self-hosted family hub. This policy covers two things: this website (roosthq.org), and the Roost HQ mobile apps. The short version: your family's data lives on your own server, and we don't collect it.

This website

The roosthq.org website does not use analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies.

If you submit the contact form, we collect the name, email address, and message you provide, plus the submission time and IP address (for abuse prevention). This information is used solely to respond to your inquiry. It is never sold or shared with third parties, and you can request its deletion at any time via the contact form or the support page.

This site is served through Cloudflare, which processes standard request metadata (such as IP addresses) to deliver and protect the site, per Cloudflare's privacy policy.

The Roost HQ mobile apps

The Roost HQ apps are thin clients for a Roost HQ server that you or your family host yourselves. We do not operate that server and have no access to anything on it.

• No data collection by us. The apps send your calendar, chore, reward, and profile data only to the server address you configure: your own family's server. None of it passes through, or is stored on, infrastructure we control.
• Push notifications. If you enable notifications, the app registers a device push token with your own server, which delivers notifications through Apple's and Google's push services. The notification content originates from your server, not from us.
• No analytics or ads. The apps contain no advertising or third-party analytics SDKs.
• Google account sign-in. If your family connects Google Calendars, that authorization happens directly between your server and Google under your family's own Google Cloud project. We never see those credentials or calendars.

Children's privacy

Roost HQ is designed for families, and a family's server may hold profiles for children, created and controlled entirely by that family's adults on their own hardware. Because we do not collect or receive any personal information from the apps, we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Data retention and your rights

Everything on a self-hosted Roost HQ server belongs to and is controlled by the family running it. Retention and deletion are in your hands. For contact-form submissions on this website, email us or use the form to request a copy or deletion of what you've sent.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with an updated date above.
