Roost HQ
Your family's home base: calendars, chores, and rewards on one wall display.
One shared hub for the whole household. See everyone's schedule at a glance, hand out chores that actually get done, and let the kids earn tokens toward real rewards, all running on your own hardware, under your own roof.
Everything a busy household runs on
Built for the kitchen wall first (big, touch-friendly, and glanceable), then the same hub on every phone and laptop in the house.
Shared family calendars
Pull in everyone's Google Calendars or keep private local ones. Color-coded, photo-tagged, and merged into one family view with month, 1-week, and 2-week layouts.
Chores & routines
Assign chores to specific people or leave them up for grabs. Repeating schedules, due times, checklists, streaks, and adult approval before anything counts.
Tokens & rewards
Finished chores earn tokens. Kids spend them in the family store on prizes you define: screen time, treats, outings, whatever motivates your crew.
Awards
Recognize the stuff that isn't a chore (kindness, effort, good grades) with one-off awards worth bonus tokens.
Wall kiosk display
A Raspberry Pi and a touchscreen become the family command center: tap your face, see your day, check off your chores. No logins, no fuss.
Themes for everyone
Nine color themes with light and dark modes, so each family member and each display picks their own look.
Multi-household aware
Split time between two homes? Locations scope chores, calendars, and kiosks so each house shows what matters there.
Your data stays home
Self-hosted on your own server. No ads, no tracking, no subscription holding your family's schedule hostage.
How it works
One evening of setup, then it just runs.
Host it
Spin up Roost HQ with Docker Compose on any home server, mini PC, or VM. A step-by-step guide covers everything, including secure internet access with no open ports.
Connect your family
Sign in with Google to sync calendars, or create local profiles for the kids, no email address required. Add chores, prizes, and house rules.
Hang it on the wall
Point a Raspberry Pi touchscreen at your kiosk link. The whole family sees their day, taps their chores, and watches the tokens add up.
Free and open source
Roost HQ is AGPL-licensed. Run it, read it, fork it. The public source repository and mobile apps that connect to your own server are on the way.
